I'll start this by saying, IF THEY ARE HORRIBLE PEOPLE SAYING MEAN THINGS THAT MAKES YOU FEEL WORSE ABOUT YOURSELF AND MESS WITH YOUR SELF ESTEEM, THEY NEED TO GO!!!
We do not have time have for narrow minded people who will "joke" and say horrible things that would bring you down. LET them go! What symptoms I'm talking about?
Hyperpigmentation
Hirsutism
Oily/ acne-prone skin
weight gain
etc
You get the idea, the symptoms that not only takes a toll on your energy level, your mood, etc the ones that people actually see, which may cause them to ignore, ask about it to learn more about PCOS, and then they are the ones who will make insensitive comments and they will be hurtful.
But guess what, just really matters, what is the only thing that matters is how you feel. Are you comfortable in your skin? Personally, I have a FUPA, hyperpigmentation, hirsutism, oily skin... But whenever someone makes an insensitive comment, I have learnt that comes from an uneducated place, so use that chance to educate them and at the same time remind them to MYOB.
With that being said, if you aren't comfortable, you can do cosmetic things to help. Though with a balanced lifestyle focused on managing your symptoms would definitely help reduce some of these. I still struggle with hirsutism, so I thread and wax, I have tried electrolysis and it was PAINFUL!!!! Perhaps I'll start laser soon, but I go out and live and life regardless. Wear those crop tops with your FUPA, it's your body, embrace yourself and embrace your "flaws".
